Mickey 17 (2025) is a science-fiction dark comedy directed by Bong Joon Ho, starring Robert Pattinson, Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo. The film is based on Edward Ashton’s novel Mickey7.
The story follows Mickey Barnes, an expendable worker who joins a dangerous mission to colonize an icy planet. Whenever Mickey dies during a mission, a new version of him is created with his memories preserved. However, things become complicated when Mickey discovers that another version of himself is still alive.
Combining science fiction, dark comedy, adventure, and social satire, Mickey 17 explores identity, survival, human nature, and what it means to be considered replaceable.
